Drawing has been a part of my daily life since childhood, a practice that has become my language and a way of thinking. I’m deeply inspired by the visual world of Portuguese and Eastern European illustrated books that shaped my childhood. In my home studio (also known as the four walls I share with two very curious cats), the creative process unfolds however it wants to. Mostly through analogue techniques, mixing materials, textures, and anything that happens to land in my hands.
Over the years, I’ve taken part in several exhibitions, including “Exposição de Arte Contemporânea” at the Festival of Arronches and “Revolução” at the Aljube Museum in Lisbon. I’ve also contributed to the research project [in]visible, which explores how identities are represented in Portuguese school textbooks, and I’ve led illustration workshops for children in collaboration with youth associations projects like Projecto Ruído and FAP no Bairro.
My work often explores themes of memory, belonging, migration and resilience. Key reflections of my multicultural background and my desire to promote social inclusion and democratic access to culture. I’m currently finishing my Master’s degree in Illustration, Publishing, and Printmaking at the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Porto.
